Adobe Dreamweaver a web design program. It is the industry standard for complete web design and development. It is by far the most popular web design tool out there, and rumour has it that more than 80% of the internet is now made using Dreamweaver.

There are alternatives. A very popular free alternative is NVU (Said 'N-View') at www.nvu.com .
I started learning web design through a free program called 'Web Dwarf', that can be downloaded from www.download.com . Other alternatives include Microsoft FrontPage, or even just writing XHTML code in Notepad; however myself and most web designers would recommend Dreamweaver for having the most functionality and ease of use, for beginners and experts alike.

Most of the tutorials have been made using Dreamweaver 8. They are still applicable to the new version 'Dreamweaver CS3' and older versions 'MX2004 and MX'.
